Description

Account of Richard Halle, Master of the Guild of the Holy Cross, the Blessed Mary, and St. John the Baptist, from the Morrow of the Feast of the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr, 9 Henry VI., to the Morrow of the same Feast, 10 Henry VI. (one whole year). After this heading the following words have been added:- "Per ... annos integros et ultra, a fine dictorum duorum annorum in anno proximo sequente usque ad Festum Sanctoe Lucioe Virginis."

Many of the above fines have been assigned to Hugh Salford, whose name appears written above them

There is a note preceding the list of names stating that the entries have been cancelled because the fines were paid into the hands John Webbe

Divers payments. (Payments to Thomas Burton, mason, for making a cross; for other expenses incurred about the cross; for beer given and expended at the raising of the High Cross; for the Master with others being about the business of the Guild at the Sessions at Warwick, &c.)

In expenses incurred in the hall. (Payments to Master Thomas Hanwell when he went to Rome for our bull; for a breakfast given in the chapel to Thomas Burdet, W. Bisshopusdon, and others; to Robert Godard, mason, for "frestone" for the cross standing before the door of the Chapel, &c.)

On the back of the roll is a list of fines which have been assigned
