Introduction
The Association was founded in October 1948, with the aims of cultivating and maintaining interest in music and the arts, and fostering interest in music in the district. It operated in in the area of Hastings, St Leonards-on-Sea and Bexhill, but membership was open to residents in any part of the country. Financial support was given to winter seasons of orchestral concerts at the White Rock Pavilion, Hastings, and visits were organised to opera, ballet and concerts in centres other than Hastings. Sir Adrian Boult served as a vice-president. The association was disbanded in December 1987
