The County Council's Area 3 Planning sub-committee was established in 1948 with responsibility for planning matters in the urban districts of Newhaven and Seaford, the rural districts of Chailey and Hailsham, and the borough of Lewes. As Hailsham Rural District Council was incorporated in Wealden District Council in 1974, its plans are not amongst those listed.
