The Lodge of Harmony was established in 1799 and named in 1823. In 1799 the lodge met at The Harrow, Old Brompton, Kent. In 1816 the lodge moved to the Lord Nelson, Wood Street, Old Brompton and in 1823 it moved to the Queen's Head, High Street. In 1824 the lodge united with the Globe Lodge, No. 306 of the Chest Arms Tavern, Chatham. [The Globe Lodge also united with the Royal Marine Lodge, No. 328 of Chatham in the same year].The united lodge was renamed the United Globe Lodge and moved to the Castle Tavern, High Street, Chatham. The lodge remained in Chatham until 1837 but then moved to several Kent towns, meeting at, Rochester, Old Brompton and New Brompton before it finally settled in Gillingham. In 1825 the lodge name was changed to the United Chatham Lodge and in 1845 it became the United Chatham Lodge of Benevolence. From 1905 to the present the day the Lodge has been known as the Gillingham Lodge of Benevolence, No. 184 and now meets at the Masonic Hall, Franklin Road, Gillingham, Kent.
