Administrative / biographical background (Historical or biographical information about the creator of the record and the context of its creation)
-
A mission and sunday school was built in Black Lane in 1882, followed by the St Paul's church in 1901. The associated day school was built in 1886. It formed part of Bury Wesleyan Methodist Circuit until 1889, then became part of the new Radcliffe Wesleyan Circuit. In 1963, St. Paul's amalgamated with the former churches at Ainsworth Road and Bolton Road to form the new Wesley church, based at the former St. Paul's premises. For convenience, the records of both St. Paul's Wesleyan and the new amalgamated church are included here.
