Register of Workers

Standard printed register required by H.M. Inspectors of Factories under the Factories Regulation Act, (3 and 4 Will. iv. c. 103).

Preliminary pages contain extracts from rules and regulations and details concerning Name of mill, situation, Nature of work, Propelling power and Name of Principal Manager. Register lists every person under 18 years of age including No in the Certificate Book, Age at date of Entry, Date Came and Date left. Centre of book contains Date of visit, No. of persons presented for examination, No. of certificates granted and Signature of surgeon - J. Nightingale. Reverse end is statutory Time Register listing : Holidays and half holidays, Dates when factory was lime washed; Hours of work and times allowed for meals and Register of time lost and recovered, Nov. 1843-May 1845. (Register of hours worked by children under 13 years has been cut of book).
