Frederick William Daniels was a thirty year old insurance clerk of Rochester, Kent when he was called up and joined the Queen's Royal Regiment. He served briefly in North Africa before being captured in September 1942 and imprisoned in various camps in Italy and Germany. His papers consist of an account "Round Trip"; the magazine Snips produced by British prisoners at Eisleben mining camp in Saxony; papers relating to the post-war Snips reunions, and other miscellaneous documents including photographs. Daniels' literary flair is evident in the well-written account and in many of the Snips articles which he wrote.
