Administrative / biographical background

This club was part of the UK Federation of Business and Professional Women, which derived from the original American organisation in 1938. The Bury club was established in 1945 with assistance from the Bolton branch, and closed in 1995.

The main activities of the club were social, centred around the annual dinners and monthly meetings with invited speakers, but it was also presented on, or had links with, various other local organisations. The records basically consist of the minutes of the monthly general meetings, and those of the executive committee; the latter do not appear to be complete, starting only in 1957, when the committee was already in existence.
