Description

The tryst. Delhi, c.1900. Formerly Album 70, no.62; acquired 21 April 1915. Gouache with gold; lilac border. 223 by 151 mm; page 266 by 185 mm. A lady is fording a river at night to meet her lover who waits on the opposite bank on horseback. There are peacocks in the tree above and lightning in the sky.
