Immediate source of acquisition (When and where the record was acquired from)
- Original Hart Museum visitor books were loaned to Horniman Museum by Edward Hart's descendents in 2014, where they were photographed in their entirety. The digital photographs have been stored within the Horniman Museum's digital archive since their creation.

Taxidermist Edward Hart opened a private museum displaying his personal collection of ornithological taxidermy specimens, in The Bow House, 23 High Street, Christchurch, Hampshire, in 1866. In 1903 Hart attempted to sell the collection to the Bournemouth Corporation for £4000, but the money could not be raised. The bulk of the collection was purchased by John Hall of Stafford in 1928, marking the end of Hart's Museum.
