Title
F. Chambre to the Hon. Richard Hill.
Date
Petton, 29th June, 1725
Description

He has paid to Mr. Sherrard £400 for which, with his old debt of £200 he has executed a mortgage of his estate in Stoke upon Tern of £120 p.a.

The mortgage is made to Hill and for £1,600 with his bond, which he will send by Mr. Dickin or some other safe hand, "But as I thought you had intended this security to be parcel of the young ladyes effects I have placed ye same in those accounts but that I can soon rectify"

Lord Kilmorrey's agent has paid him all the arrears of interest which was £265/13/6d. and he has lodged the same with Mr. Powys to be returned to Hill unless he orders its application otherwise. He does not know whether the principal is to come in yet or not. He will observe directions about the Scots firs and plant none but that kind in the new walk.

Settled weather is wanted for the hay harvest as well as for Hill's designs at Hawkstone - the brick work is delayed.

The new orchard he mentions cannot be planted with fruit next winter unless trees are bought, for Joseph has only what were grafted last spring and it will be too soon to move them.

Mr. Wright can furnish very good sorts, and 6d. a tree of a size sufficient for standards, which is cheap.

Mr. Davies sent £15 a few days ago, with a promise of the remaining £10 in a fortnight's time. The iron gates are not yet finished. Chambre agreed with him some time since to work them and deliver them and put them up at 5d. per pound, which he thought cheaper then to pay for the carriage and for his trouble in putting them up.

Mr. Kynaston, with whom Chambre is staying, gives him humble service.

Post scrip. Mr. Robert Adams now has the rent roll he mentioned in his last.
