Description (What the record is about)
-
This is a small collection of letters to and from, and about, the Jewish philanthropist Sir Moses Haim Montefiore (1784-1885). Charles Hunt of Yoxall, Staffordshire, a Christian, evidently donated £50 in 1876 to the testimonial fund set up in Montefiore's name. The last four items relate to this, while the first three concern Hunt's late sister who was a close friend of Montefiore.
