Description (What the record is about)
-
While prayer was central to the Mothers' Union mission, no department was solely responsible for prayer although it was obviously an important aspect of the work of the Religious Education and the Speakers' Departments. Nevertheless in 1922 the Central Council appointed a central correspondent for intercessions. Her job was to act as secretary for all the diocesan correspondents who were carrying out the work in their diocese. In 1949 she became Prayer Group Correspondent. There was also a central correspondent for the Invalid Members' Prayer Circle. MU/PRAY therefore contains material produced by correspondents not by a department.
