Administrative / biographical background

David Tipton was born in Birmingham in 1934 and was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham. Following National Service, he trained as a teacher. He subsequently travelled widely, spending seven years teaching in Argentina and Peru. After the death of his first wife in 1970, he returned to England with his young children. He settled in Bradford where he has combined school teaching with writing poetry and prose. He has also run a series of printing presses including the Rivelin Press, the Redbeck Press and the Blue Bridge Press, publishing his own work and that of other contemporary English writers, particularly poets. He died in 2012.
