60 horse power side lever boat engine for land, with 42 inch cylinder, 4 foot stroke.

Reverse plan of the engine house, plan of the tunnel and covering stones, longitudinal and cross-sections of the engine house; press copy sketch plans and side views showing proposed 50 horse engine and 80 horse beam engine, Jan. 1831; sketch plan showing the engine house, 80 horse beam engine, dye house and card room by Andrew Ker; sketch plans and elevation of the masonry courses and end view of the engine; press copy note from William Bennett to William Middleton dated 24 Feb. 1831 re patterns for the engine; outline plan of the bolt holes; press copy sketch side view of the engine marked "accompanying another drawing"; small sketch of part of foundation [?]; sketch of crank shaft; sketch of crank and shaft for working slide valve and governor; sketch plans of boilers for Clarke and William Harter. The reverse drawings bear letter codes.

For Joseph Clarke & Sons. Hope Mills, Manchester. This engine was erected near the 80 horse crank engine which the firm bought in 1824 [see Portfolio 5/492].
