Treatises on theology and natural philosophy, in the same hand as Sion L40.2/L36. These volumes, captured at sea off the coast of Ireland in 1643, probably represent notes on lectures taken at a Roman Catholic seminary on the continent. ff. 1r-9r. 'Tractatus de angelis'. ff. 9r-14r. 'Tractatus de Deo'. ff. 15r-99v. A commentary on the Physics of Aristotle. Begins : 'In phisicam praefatio continens prologomena eius breviter explicata'. ff. 100r-107r. 'Ad 4r libros de caelo et mundo commentarii'. A commentary on Aristotle, 'De caelo et mundo'. ff. 108r-100v. 'De festivitatibus q. eveniunt infra temporem deviationis'. On Church festivals during the Time of Deviation, from Advent to Septuagesima. ff. 101r-120r. 'Expositio epistolae beati Pauli ad gallatas ex sensu ecclesiae in conciliis et sanctorum patrum scriptis declarato'. A commentary on the epistle of St. Paul to the Galatians.

Immediate source of acquisition (When and where the record was acquired from)
- Inscription at f. i recto, and at f. 120v: 'This booke was taken in the hector prize 1643 per Joseph Jordan'. Sir Joseph Jordan (1603/4-1685) was serving in 1643 as Rear-Admiral of the squadron on the Irish coast. The Hector prize ship was incorporated into the Royal Navy in 1644. In the same hand as Sion L40.2/L36, which also has the inscription relating to Sir Joseph Jordan, and which has a label inside the front cover: 'Gulielmus Garbert ex hospitio Graiano Gen. volumen hoc Bibliothecae huic Sionensi donavit 1657'. Sion L40.2/L35-36 were evidently given to Sion College in 1657 by William Garbert, of Grays Inn. See the Sion College Book of Benefactors (Sion L40.2/E64, p. 73: 'William Garbert of London, Gentleman. Com. in partes diversas Tho. Aquinatis per Anonymum Hybernicum vol 2 MS fol'). Transferred from Sion College to Lambeth Palace Library, 1996.
