The main object of the visit was to go through the list of complaints about Sapphire engine No.123 at present installed in a Hawker Hunter aircraft. 1) Time from start to flying rpm is 1 min 10 secs opposed to the claimed 45 seconds. 2) RPM overswing at take-off. 3) Governor creep exists on full throttle climb. 4) Throttle response unsatisfactory to or near full rpm. 5) Jet pipe temperature creep with altitude. 6) Bearing temperature limitations. 7) Minimum idling rpm is too high altitude. We were shown the design of the RA.7 installation with re-heat Page 3: Sa.7 in Hunter Mk.2
