Folio 259. Letter from James Saunders, Clerk to the East Dereham Local Government District Local Board, to the Local Government Board, applying for an extension to fill a vacancy on the local board caused by a resignation. A board member resigned on 11 September 1883 and a replacement was co-opted at a meeting on 3 October 1883. However, the co-opted person declined to take up the position. It is now over the six-week limit set out in Rule 65 schedule 2 of the Public Health Act 1875 to find a replacement so that the local board feel they should apply to the local board for an extension of another six weeks. Annotated: asking if there is a precedent for a person nominated to fill a casual vacancy and so becoming a member of the local board. 9 November 1883.
