Description

Annual returns giving names, professions and residence of members of the St. George's Lodge [Antients] and general correspondence relating to the running of the lodge. Years 1796, 1798, 1801, 1802, 1804 - 1806, 1808, 1809 and 1811 are not extant.

Administrative / biographical background

St. George's Lodge was established in 1791 and met at the Castle Inn, High Street, Windsor, Berkshire. In 1814 the lodge moved to the Swan Inn, Thames Street, Windsor but in 1818 the lodge returned to the Castle Inn. In 1791 the lodge was named the Prince of Wales' Lodge and in 1813 it was renamed the St. John's Lodge. The lodge was renamed again in 1818 and became known as St. George's Lodge. The lodge was erased in 1838.
