Administrative / biographical background

Four part series on the folk songs and history of the Midlands, intended for broadcast on the BBC Midland Home Service. The series was never broadcast, but a pilot programme, 'Streets of Brummagem' was made, researched by Roy Palmer and Phyllis Norman and produced by Charles Parker. 'Streets of Brummagem' focused on the popular songs of the Midlands and included documentary readings from the times that produced them. The folk songs were compiled and performed by the Birmingham and Midland Folk Centre with Peggy Seeger and Gerry Pugh.
