The Arundel and District Nursing and Emergency Hospital Association was formed in 1906. The following parishes were included in the Association's area: Amberley, Angmering, Arundel, Binsted, Bury, Burpham, Clapham, Ford, Houghton, Lyminster, Madehurst, Patching, Poling, Rustington, Slindon, North and South Stoke, Tortington, Warningcamp, Walberton and Yapton. The Association was governed by a Finance and Hospital Committee and two sub-committees for nursing purposes. Money for the hospital was raised by voluntary subscriptions and the payments of patients.
In 1917 the Duchess of Norfolk was no longer able to support the hospital and it was closed on 31 October whilst a special committee was appointed to draw up new rules. In January 1918 the new Board of Governor's for Arundel and District Cottage Hospital met for the first time and the hospital was re-opened. The Board covered the same parishes as the defunct Association. On 7 November 1931 a new hospital in Chichester Road, re-named Arundel and District Hospital, was opened by the Duchess of Norfolk.
In July 1948 the Board of Governors was dissolved and the administration of the hospital was taken over by the Worthing Group Hospital Management Committee and in 1974 by Worthing District Health Authority.
