Description

Papers and correspondence relating to the operation of a private society for conservative evangelical clergymen under the age of forty, with meetings designed to allow informal discussion. Contains correspondence with Jonathan Aitkin concerning the Eclectic Society established by John Newton and John Stott's second founding of the society, 2002; promotional material issued by the New Eclectics- formed by a merger of the Eclectic Society and SEAC [Senior Anglican Evangelical Clergy] group, 1998-2000; correspondence concerning a brochure for the society, 1992; press cuttings; an open letter concerning the structuring of mission, 1970; material relating to National Conferences of the Eclectic Society, 1966-1969; notes relating to its foundation and membership; meetings of the Senior Group of the Eclectic Society, 1969; minutes of the Council of the Eclectic Society, 1964-1969; correspondence concerning the society's structure and meetings.
