These records were largely deposited by the former Secretary before 1986, apart from an item relating to Bury Peace Week, an event jointly organised by the LNU and Bury Trades Council, deposited in 1990 by Mrs B Coleman, one of the organisers.

The inaugural meeting of the Bury branch of the LNU was held on the 6th December 1920 on the initiative of the Bury branch of the Christian Social Crusade. The LNU aimed to raise awareness and promote the objects of the League of Nations. In November 1945, the branch became part of the United Nations Association which replaced the LNU. The branch closed in 1981.
