Description

13 March: Blackburn. Two flights to relighting tests and investigation of altitude creep on Lucas fuel pump governor. The aircraft was also flown on the 14th. Wyvern Vw.868. No flying owing to reduced visibility at low altitude. Aircraft servicable. 16 March: Blackburn. No flying possible during the morning owing to the unservicability of the fire tender. Later in the day, trouble was experienced with aircraft instrumentation. Wyvern VW.868. Low visibility prevented the aircraft being flown. 17 March: Blackburn. In preparing the aircraft for flight, the port unit failed to start owing to a damaged igniter lead elbow. The second igniter also failed to function owing to a faulty booster coil. Both these components are being changed. No flight. Wyvern VW.868. The aircraft was not flown as the pilots did not consider the visibility to be sufficiently clear. 18 March: Blackburn. One flight devoted to relighting tests and flight idling measurements. Aircraft remains servicable. Wyvern Vw.868. Aircraft servicable. No flying due to unfavourable weather conditions
