Salt Duty
James Broad, master, and Walter Coleman Broad, mate, of sloop 'James and John' of Plymouth, stated on oath that on 2/3 Sep. last they shipped at Liverpool 1640 bushels of British salt to carry it to Penzance on account of William Carne and Son of Penzance. On voyage a storm caused loss of 104 bushels of salt: Collector of Excise to make allowance to makers of the salt.
Stephen Allen, jun. of Towednack, miner, indicted for taking 40lbs. of tin ore, property of Lewis Charles Daubuz, esq., and also 40lbs of tin stuff, owner unknown: acquitted.

Insolvent debtor
Richard Moyle, brought to court by James Chapple, Keeper of Prison and Sheriff's Ward at Bodmin, stated to have been in county gaol since 1 Feb. last for non-payment of debts not exceeding £1,500. R.M. claimed benefit under Act, and produced in court a schedule listing all his real and personal estate, and details of all his debts: granted benefit and discharged from gaol.

John Brown, master, and James Richard, mate, of sloop 'Friendship' of Padstow, stated on oath that on 23 and 28 Aug. last they shipped at Bristol 480 bushels of British salt, to carry it to Padstow on account of James Hawken, and Alexander Menhinnick jun. they sailed from Bristol on 5 Sept., and between Ilfracombe and Padstow ran into stormy weather, losing 30 bushels of salt [no judgement recorded]
