Gallantry Notes: MC: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He helped to dig out some of his men who had been buried by a shell. While thus engaged, all the party except himself were put out of action by a shell. Though partially buried and badly shaken, he remained on duty and continued to direct his battery with great success. Later he took command of his group and reamined in charge for three days. He displayed the greatest resolution and devotion to duty throughout the operations.;
