20 horse power side lever boat engine for land, with 26¾ inch cylinder, 2½ foot stroke.

Numbered drawings, Jun. 1832: 1 - "View of a 20 horse engine proposed for Messrs. George Cheetham & Sons" (cut-away side view); 2 - plan of the air pump and condenser etc. (with notes and small sketch showing old and new engines on the back); 3 - "View of a 20 horse engine proposed for Messrs. George Cheetham & Sons" (side view showing beam).

For George Cheetham & Sons. Textile mill, Stalybridge, Cheshire. Cheetham & Sons bought two 20 horse boat engines for land; engine QH in 1827 [see Portfolio 5/1058], and this engine in 1832-1833. The drawings show the two engines erected in a line. Soon after purchasing this engine, the firm ordered two 60 horse boat engines for land [see Portfolio 5/1049].
