Administrative / biographical background

Miss Hockton is the matron of Broughton House, a home for disabled and aged ex-service men. The photographs were left to her by Mr. Frank Hughes, who prior to his death has become engaged to the donor's mother. He died before they could be married. Background information is limited. Mr. Hughes was from Fleetwood, he was born on 25/5/1906. He attended Rossall School in Fleetwood and was a keen sportsman. He had family connections in the Worsley area, i.e. the Kidd family, a well-to-do local family. He was married and had one daughter who died fairly young. Both his mother and wife were often ill, Mr. Hughes died approx. 5 years ago leaving his cottage and mementos to Miss Hockton and her mother.
