Description

From: Stephen de legeh' To: Henry ferre 10 acres in Snave ('snave') warland ('warelande'), of which 7½ acres and an eighth of an acre lie to west of 'munechesdic', and the rest between the land of Gerard de leulesham and the land of Leofwin ('lefwinus') and Godfrey. For an annual payment of 10s at the messuage of Hugh son of He'burg'. He must maintain sea and fresh water defences in proportion to the amount of his land. For this grant Henry has paid 20s. No date. [Date: handwriting.] Witnesses: Stephen of Kenardington ('kanardint''); Stephen, son of Stephen of Kenardington; Vincent de ria; Gerard de leulesha'; Arnold ('Ernold'') ferre; Benedict de oxen' Endorsed with description in contemporary hand, giving Stephen as Stephen de leges, and land as in Fairfield.
