The Archives, Heritage and Photography Department at the Library of Birmingham holds many records relating to local schools that fell under the jurisdiction of the City Council. The records relate to infant, primary and secondary schools and in the main comprise attendance registers, log books, some punishment books, photographs, printed material and other records. The first paper catalogue of school records has an alphabetical list of schools we hold records for with the collection reference number denoted (usually with the prefix S followed by a number for a specific school). Researchers can also check to see if we hold records for a school by entering the school name into the AnyText field after clicking Advanced Search when searching the on-line archives catalogue.
