Articles of Agreement for the sale of the manor of Worth: parties 1 & 2 covenant to convey premises to party 3 before 5 March next in consideration of party3's covenant to pay £27,000 for it on 25 March next on execution of conveyance. Party 3 covenants to confirm a Lease contracted by Peter Downes dcsd. to be granted to Thos.Shrigley of Worth, of Shrigleys Tenement for 21 years after the death of .... Shrigley his brother, and a Bargain made by Peter Downes dcsd. & parties 1 & 2, with John Barrett of Worth, cotton manufacturer, for building land in Worth. The premises for sale are the manor or lordship of Worth in the parish of Prestbury, county of Chester, with all its appurtenances: the mansion house in Worth called Worth Hall with its members, and lands belonging to it held by George Wood as tenant farmer: lands in Worth occupied by William Clayton, David Shaw, John Ward, Samuel Bradshaw, Peter Goddard, Thomas Priestnal, Sir George Warren, Thomas Shrigley, George Taylor, John Wood, David Shaw, Peter Gaskell, William Clayton, John Hough and John Barrett, tenants at annual rents totalling £326.3.5.: coalmines in Worth and their machinery.

Paper 1 sheet folded, 4pp 9" wide by 13", written pp.1,2,3. Seals, 3 en placard, red, round, described in order of signatures;- (1) 22mm diam., heraldic, shield of arms of 9 coats, effaced. (2) 12mm diam., heraldic, a shield of 2 coats impaled, effaced. (3) 20mm diameter, a legend in a garter, illegible, device a griffin. Duty Stamp 1s.6d.
