On 1st January 1952 the Waltham Abbey Division was created under an Order at the Essex Court of Quarter Sessions. It Comprised the Borough of Chingford and the Urban District of Waltham Holy Cross, both of which had formerly been part of the Epping Division [P/E]. Under the Petty Sessional Divisions (Essex) Order, 1966, which was made by the Secretary of State under the provisions of section 18 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1949 and came into effect on 1 October 1966, the Petty Sessional Divisions of Epping and Waltham Abbey were once more combined into the Epping Division [see Q/SO 67].
