In 1965, under the London Government Act, 1963, Malden and Coombe became part of the London Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the records were transferred to the Guildhall, Kingston.

The New Malden local Board was formed in 1866 under the powers given in the Public Health Act, 1848, and in the Local Government Act, 1858. In January 1895 this became the Urban District Council of New Malden, and by July of the same year, with Coombe and Old Malden, it became the Urban District Council of the Maldens and Coombe. The Borough of Malden and Coombe was created in 1936.
