A large museum covering the history of St. Albans from the departure of the Romans to the present day. Records held include photographs of shop fronts, taken every 10 years from 1960 onwards, printed reports of St. Albans' Board of Guardians 1887-9, Hill End Hospital records, the diary of Elsie Toms, local historian, First and Second World War diaries, St Albans' Treasurers Dept records 1907-1973, building plans and maps and a large collection of photographs and printed ephemera related to St. Albans and District. Books include leaves from the St. Albans' Press and a contemporary account of an outbreak of Scarlet Fever in St. Albans in the 18th century.
