1055. Agua Fria Gold Mining Co., California, USA (KN & KO). Nov. 1851, Jan., Feb. 1852. 12 items.
Two 38 horse power side lever boat engines for land, with 35½ inch cylinders, 3 foot strokes.

Reverse plan of the engine and boilers, longitudinal section of the engine and front view of the boilers, cross-section of the engine, plan of the tunnel; plan and sections of wood-burning boiler - coloured drawing made in the London office and sent to Soho; steam and safety pipes - press copy drawing; connecting machinery for the 2 engines - original, reverse copy and tracing; longitudinal section of boiler - partially coloured reverse drawing; feed pipes for each engine - press copy drawing; printed prospectus of the company. All the drawings except the press copy of the steam pipes bear letter codes.

For the Agua Fria Gold Mining Co., Agua Fria Mine, Mariposa District, California, USA. The firm was organised by Sir Robert Price and George Clive in 1851 in London, where they had offices at 3 Old Broad St. and 50 Pall Mall. The engines were used for crushing gold-bearing quartz rock. The company also ordered a steam hammer through James Watt & Co. The company was dissolved in Jun. 1856 and its property sold to the Quartz Reduction Co.
