Indemnity Bond

Whereby, having recited: firstly, that on 18th. Dec., 1839 an insurance-policy was executed with the West of England Fire and Life Company for £90 upon Mary Lynes' life; secondly, that in Dec., 1839 the policy was assigned to William Henry Seymour and Thomas Dewes (of Coventry, gents.); thirdly, that W.H. Seymour has died; fourthly, that M. Lynes died during May, 1860, so the money became payable to T. Dewes as surviving trustee; fifthly, that since the policy (assigned to Seymour) has not been found, the society has refused to pay the money to Dewes unless he enter into an indemnity-bond with William Giles Cole and John Redgrave (the latter being described as in PA/101/11/837); and sixthly that, at the request of J. Redgrave, Dewes has entered into such a bond with W.G. Coles and Redgrave, and with William Cann (the insurance-company's secretary) for £100 to indemnify the company from payment of the £90: therefore Redgrave will indemnify Dewes for £100.
