Description

Mainly in Somerset. The latest entry is for 26 Eliz [1584 or 1585] on f.16. The inventory is prefaced by a list of tenants in chief and holders of Knights fees in co. Som, temp. Edw I-II. On ff.16,16v is a list of 'Fives anno quasto Elizabeth reginal per homaguis'.

The binding consists of two leaves from a monastic lectionary, written in England, 13th cent. It contains parts of the lessons for St Mark (25 April) and SS Philip and James (1 May).

[Note. The 'Part' nos where given do not correspond with the 'part' or 'membrane' nos. given in the published patent rolls: nor can all the entries be traced in the latter. Information given by B.M. to Mr Staff].
