The Albany Building Society was founded in 1963 with its head office at 60 Pall Mall London SW1 (as listed in the BSA year book of 1966). It transferred engagements to the London Investment Building Society in December 1968. It eventually became part of the Nationwide, through a series of mergers involving the London & South of England and Anglia Building Societies, in 1987.
