Title
Lord Lisle to Ormond
Date
[7? June 1660]
Description

Gives an account of some pictures and statues that belonged to the late King, & are now in the writer's custody. ... Has been for some years a collector of such things. Some few things were bought for him of the Parliament's sellers, - in all, he thinks, not exceeding the value of £200 or £300. ... The highest priced picture the writer had is of £100; - divers there were [in the sale] of £1,000, and one of £2,000, which the Spanish ambassador had. He & the French ambassador had all the best. The statues, being not so portable, remained a long time in the hands of those who received them for the King's debts, and others, when I made my purchases. ...

... Adds, in a PS, that what the writer has ... "shall all attend his Majesty's pleasure".
