Henry [VI] to the escheator in Sussex. Out of the manors held in chief by Edmund, Earl of March, deceased, held in wardship during the nonage of Richard, Duke of York, son of Anne, sister and heiress of the Earl and daughter of Eleanor, late Countess of March, cousin and heir of the Earl, and owing to the nonage of Henry Grey, son and heir of Joan, wife of John Grey, knight, deceased, another sister and heiress of the Earl, with the assent of Nicholas Caldecote, attorney of John Typtofte, knight, and Joyce his wife, third sister and heiress of the Earl, of William Garnet, attorney of my uncle John, Duke of Bedford, of William Acworth, attorney of my uncle Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester, and of William Merley, attorney of my cousin Thomas, Duke of Exeter, to whom the Earl's manors were committed, I grant to John Tiptofte and Joyce his wife, for her use, an annuity of £31. 2 s. 7¼ d. out of a fee farm of £36 from the bailiffs of the City of Chichester. Pay this to John and Joyce Tiptoft. Leycestr' 8 March a.4.
