Loose unmounted prints, the majority captioned on the verso, from the collection of Colonel Walter Thune, Burma Military Police. The majority of the photographs are by James Henry Green (1893-), a British Army officer who was appointed to the 85th Burma Rifles in 1918 and spent the next 20 years or so of his life in Burma. Most of the prints have the copyright stamp 'J.H.G.' on the back. The main collection of photographs by Green is housed in the Green Centre for Non-Western Art in Brighton Museum. The photographs cover a range of subjects and locations including the release of slaves, trades and occupations, ethnographical portraits, pagodas and a funeral. There are in addition a few photographs credited to Hamilton M. Wright, as well as some unattributed prints. Process = Gelatin silver prints. Photographers = The majority by James Henry Green,; a few by Hamilton M. Wright and others unknown.,;.
