Eldest son of Isaac Taylor (1787-1865). Archaeologist, philologist and author of controversial theological works. Educated privately, at King's College, London and Trinity College, Cambridge. B.A. 1853 M.A. 1857 and ordained curate. Vicar of Holy Trinity Twickenham 1869, and rector of Settrington (Y), 1875. Canon of York 1885. Married Georgiana Anne Cust, 1865.
