These slavery files consist of confidential correspondence sent to and from the Political Agency in Bahrain, relating to the nature and extent of slavery and the slave trade in the Gulf region. The files contain: reports and statistical data on the slave trade, gathered for the League of Nations Advisory Committee on Slavery; diplomatic and military responses to slave trading in Abu Dhabi; allegations of increased activity in the slave trade (1942), with Qatar being a particular concern.
