From 1816 (coinciding with the arrival of the new estate agent, Blaikie) until 1885 Cottage Rentals were recorded in the same volumes as manorial Quit Rents: these volumes are listed under E/M 22-91. This information was repeated in the Audit Books, but the Cottage Rentals contain a little more detail, and are frequently annotated with dates of deaths and changes of tenant. The separate series of Cottage Rentals, covering the whole estate, was begun in 1886, continuing to 1971.
Another series of rentals, labelled as 'Tenants' Rent Accounts', was started in 1877, recording rents paid for properties (probably leasehold) such as farms and large premise. As with the Cottage Rentals, the information is repeated in the Audit Books, but the Rent Accounts contain a little more detail and annotations.
Neither the Audit Books nor the Cottage Rentals and Tenants' Rent Accounts normally list the name or address of the properties.
