S/Ldr Starky's comments from the pilot's view after a baulked landing case. 'The static thrust of the Sa.5 without re-heat is 5,100 lbs, but the thrust loss due to intake....'. 'It is understood that Beamont would prefer to fly with one Sapphire giving re-heat and one giving a normal thrust of 8,000 lbs, or as it now seems likely, with both Sapphires giving 8,000 lbs with re-heat discarded for the time being.'
