Two collections of documents concerning Wormleybury and Wormley manor have been deposited in this office : accession 1009, catalogued as DE/Wb, and accession 297, the major part of this present schedule. They are archivally unrelated in that DE/Bu was formed after the Egerton-Cust family had ceased to own the property; documentarily, DE/Bu is in many respects a continuation of DE/Wb and in some a supplement to it. The four court books, 1701-1922, mentioned in the introduction to DE/Wb as forming a part of this present collection are in fact part of accession 93 (Longmore collection). Two other deposits have been made: DE/X21 (MS notes for the history of Wormley) and a collection of maps which have been absorbed into HALS: county maps collection.
After certain transatlantic adventures, the Lordship of the manor of Wormley was by deed of gift dated 23 December 1968, vested in the Hertfordshire County Council
