Description

This series of family papers includes Boer War correspondence sent to Edward Barton and business records and other papers relating to the off-licence he owned in Normanton Road, Derby.

There are also papers of Capt. Alan Barton (d. 1974) relating to his service during World War II in the Mechanical Engineers Corps of the Grenadier Guards including his experiences when the Allies entered Belgium in 1945.

Administrative / biographical background

Edward Barton owned an off-licence in Derby. Alan Barton served in World War II in the Mechanical Engineers Corps of the Grenadier Guards and saw the entry of the Allies into Belgium in 1945.
