- that on 9 Jul 1870 BT, JT and FT served notice on Mary Read demanding payment of the principal and interest on it

- that the sums of £445 and £63/17/5 remained outstanding with an arrear of interest as did £70/19/6 since expended in keeping the easternmost messuage in repair, together with an arrear of interest on that and that £15 had been spent in making the auction sale referred to below

- that the combined principal of £594/16/11, even without interest arrears, considerably exceeded the value of the two tenements serving as security

- that the tenements were put up for sale by auction at The Swan, Bedford, on 15 Mar 1871 when no sale was effected but that AM had subsequently agreed to buy the premises for £520

Witnessing

BT, JT and FT sold to AM for £520 the two messuages as described in Z 948/8 but now described as in occupation of Adam Merrie and [blank] Tregenza

The two messuages are referred to as 34 and 36 Tavistock Street on the front of the conveyance with a pencil note that they were [presumably later] numbered 114 and 116 and were sold to the Misses Jones and William Watkins respectively
