The adjoining manors of Park, in the parish of Brading and Nettleston in the parish of St. Helens were owned at the beginning of the 16th century by the Rogers family of Cannington, Somerset. Both were purchased by Sir William Oglander in 1591, but whereas Park has remained part of the Nunwell Estate until very recent times, Nettleston passed into the hands of George Oglander of Chichester, a younger son of William, and has since belonged to the Holgates and Glynns, relatives of the Oglanders
