The collection was accrued by the International Peace Bureau's Secretariat at the IPB documentation centre in Geneva from 1990 to 2017. The primary theme of the material is peace and conflict transformation around the world in the post-Cold War period. A major related theme is human rights. Additional topics include development and humanitarianism. The collection consists of reports, bulletins, newsletters, leaflets, pamphlets, petitions and appeals, articles, conference papers, statements, press releases, minutes, press cuttings, directories, manuals, speeches, announcements, postcards, pictures, drawings, posters, periodicals, DVDs, CD-ROMs and VHS tapes.

Immediate source of acquisition (When and where the record was acquired from)
- The material was collected by the Geneva Secretariat during the period of the Secretary-General’s incumbency (1990-2017). It was closed at the point of the SG’s retirement and the transfer of the headquarters to Berlin in 2017. The bulk of the collection was lodged with the Geneva Graduate Institute, while this supplementary fonds was transferred to Bradford.

The International Peace Bureau (IPB) is the world's oldest and most comprehensive peace movement federation. It was founded in 1891 and from 1924 to 2017 it was based in Geneva. The IPB has 300 member organisations in 70 countries, and together with individual members it forms a global network, bringing together knowledge and campaigning exerience in a common cause. The IPB links experts and advocates working on smiliar issues in order to build strong civil society movements. The dominant themes are conflicts / conflict zones, human rights and peace movement work. The IPB has had Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council since 1977. The IPB also has associate status with the Department of Public Information. The IPB won the Nobel Prize in 1910 and thirteen individual IPB officers have also received the Prize - a larger total than any other organisation.
